Do you remember when Britney Spears had a campaign with Pepsi in the early 2000’s? It was iconic 💅Part of the campaign involved a small holiday campaign which I was the lead account executive on.It involved a million late nights and weekends to coordinate 👇🏻🎄the logistics🎄the shoot schedule🎄 transportation bookings🎄 hotel bookings🎄 hair and make-up🎄 wardrobeMy art director on the account and I were both 🤪 Junior🤪 Under tons of pressure to deliver this shoot🤪 Getting lots of direction from lots of different stakeholders❗️We got sh*t done and delivered our first celebrity shoot successfully❗️That was probably my first “Oh sh*t to Hell Yeah” experience in my career. I look back on that and realize Laura & I were only a few years older than Britney at the time!Fast forward a few decades later and ⤵️1️⃣ Britney still tops the list as one of the most professional, hard-working celebs I have had the pleasure of working with.2️⃣ My art director became a good friend and we have been working together, again, for a few years now!The lesson? Turning an "Oh sh*t" moment into a "Hell yeah" one, then looking back and realizing how far you've come, is what makes this journey unforgettable.

I was working as a packaging designer for PepsiCo at that time and helped customize can designs for the concert ticket giveaway promotions. It meant that I had her "signature" file.I found out that a fraternity brother of mine was a huge fan, and I was leaving work to go up and visit him with other brothers and friends, so I hatched a plan to prank him. I had help from the women I worked with, who adored the plan. I printed up a sheet with her color image and the vector sig file that appeared on the cans, and the ladies hand-wrote, "To Dan, My #1 Fan, Love," and then the vector signature, and one of them blotted bubblegum-pink lipstick on top of the 'autograph' to make it look like Brittney had kissed it. I took the photo up to the alumni gathering and prepared to roast Dan with it. Only thing is, when I fed him the story about how Brittney had come to PepsiCo to sign contracts and do a tour of the facilities, which is how I had run into her and got the 'autograph', he didn't care about any of the teasing from the other brothers, and he thanked me so genuinely that I couldn't bear to tell him it was a fake. He had it mounted & framed. 😧 Never told him, either. Jokes on me, I guess. 😆

I don't think you realize how much i LOVE Britney. So the fact that you got to work with her means there's only one separation between Britney and i...so in many ways...I got to work with Britney too! Hahaha. Yes, I am aware of how unhinged I sound. But all joking aside, you're amazing and of course you delivered! What a BOSS!! Love it so much!!

Such fun times! I was telling one of my classes a similar story about Pepsi/Beyonce. I said “I was like 24 years old and trusted with organizing a photo shoot with BEYONCÉ!”. Funny enough, her Mom was her stylist then and joined the pre-pro call. Crazy times.

Katie Schibler Conn Love this story! Founder's stories of their "Ah sh*t" moments are so important to look back on and see your successes and how far you've come. It makes the next challenge easier to approach knowing you've done it before. Congrats!

How time flies !!! It’s incredible to remind ourselves all we’ve been through and the hard work we’ve achieved for PepsiCo. Insane but truly such an experience I’m so proud of.

I remember this! You both rocked this project as did Ms. Spears herself. 95% of the photos were flawless! I loved hearing directly from you and Laura how stellar and professional she was to work with.

A little over a year ago the leader of my daughter’s girl scout troopasked me to be her co-leader. Cue panic 😱My immediate internal reaction was “Hell no, I don’t have time for this!” 📈 At the time I was dealing with the pain points of rapidly growing KSA😅 and frankly was at the “I want to quit stage” of agency ownership (again).I ultimately said yes to becoming a troop co-leader because 1️⃣ It's important to commit to precious time with my one and only child2️⃣ I was a Girl Scout as was my mom, who was also my leader3️⃣ Selfishly, I would be able to influence the troop’s schedule around my travels and work schedule. My girls bridged from Brownies to Juniors last month and it reminded me how much joy being a troop leader has given me. And to @Jason Swenk ’s reminder, it also made me grateful that I have the gift of owning my own business. I’m glad I said yes to the insane time commitment of being a Girl Scout Troop leader and I’m glad I didn’t quit my agency last year. Life is too short to not say yes to the people and things that matter.Oh sh*t to hell yeah, all day every day!

As a kick 🍑business owner and female entrepreneur, I believe that I should give back to my community as much as possible 👇Some of the organizations I’ve joined have 💁♂️ Traditionally only been available for men, such as the Providence University Club.I love the culture and history I learn about as a club and board member.☝️But it is also not lost on me that this is a very “traditional” club (and frankly)☝️I was motivated by the opportunity to help steer it to thrive with a diverse, growing membership.I am also an Advisory Board Member for Enterprising Women, → Which is a publication about to celebrate its 25th anniversary→ I was an award winner in 2022 and have been on the advisory board since thenI am also a proud Girl Scout Leader for my daughter’s troop and also→ Community Recruitment Champion and Media Coordinator for the Exeter West Greenwich Service Unit for Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England🏕️ I was a Girl Scout, as was my mom (she was my leader)🏕️ I genuinely adore all things Girl Scouts🏕️ It stands for so much of what I believe in as a woman, mother and entrepreneur On weekends you will find me camping with my troop or doing some kind of activity for my troop or service unit. Giving back and helping to shape the next generation of female leaders is my most favorite role I serve outside of work + family. In the photo below, you can see the sash which was my mom’s when she was a Girl Scout in the 50's/60's, then my vest from the 80's and Madelyn’s Brownie vest + her brand new Junior Vest!

I have evolved KSA Marketing ’s values over the last few years. These values are also very important to me 👇❗ Our values reflect what we believe a team member needs to be to be successful here ❗1️⃣ Be a champion for positive change→ If you see something that should be better, speak up→ Be willing to fight for what is right→ Speak positively about our clients, partners and each other2️⃣ Be a kick 🍑 team contributor → Support your teammates and ask your teammates for help when you need it→ Hold each other accountable 3️⃣ Have the courage to break sh*t→ We don’t have to do things the way we always have→ Be willing to suggest and build changes that will make us better→ We have to be willing to have those tough conversations with our clients4️⃣ Have the tenacity to fix sh*t→ Even when the problems are hard we stick with it until it’s solved→ The growth of our clients is a direct result of our tenacity as an agency5️⃣ Have the honesty to own your sh*t→ We all make mistakes→ When it happens, we own it and we make it right💪 These values are how we take our clients from Oh Sh*t to Hell Yeah!™ Which of these values resonates the most with you?

One of the things that I firmly believe is that we as marketersNeed to keep our communication super simple. 👇❗By the way, this is also true when you don’t know a language. ❗Case in point, these photos are from a journal I kept while I was traveling in Mongolia. I was traveling with two other people and we went into a very basic bodega in a small village🐴 And drew the picture you see below and said we were looking for “mori”🐴 Which is the Mongolian word for horse. From that picture, they called the town teacher, who spoke a little bit of English. She understood what we were trying to do and called a family who owned horses. So we started negotiating pay, the amount of time we would be gone, and what we wanted to do.Which you can also see below in the pages 📄 This taught me how to communicate very simply.→ I didn’t speak the language→ We drew stick figuresDespite that, we were able to negotiate a guide (who didn’t speak English) and leave on a week-long trip. This experience (and others like it) taught me that simple communication👏 is the best way to communicate 👏Especially in marketing, where it is easy to get in the weeds, or over explain.

KSA stands for Katie Schibler & Associates, LLC 🥱But I like to say it stands for Kick Some 🍑I founded KSA Marketing in October 2011, one week after coming back from my year abroad.I needed a Tax ID number for PepsiCo, and didn’t have time to wait for a Federal company name clearance. And as far as I’m aware, I’m the only Katie Schibler in the US. 😆For the first 3 years, I was kicking marketing 🍑 as a one-woman company. In 2014, I realized that I needed both a book-keeper and part-time admin, Both of whom worked from my dining room table. We were mostly working with PepsiCo and PlayStation plus a few agencies. A lot has changed since then 👇→ I’ve hired people + expanded our clients→ We’ve moved from my dining room table to a real office→ We survived Covid and took on new clients during CovidAnd now we are reworking the website 👀There is a lot that has happened in between then and now, butKSA Marketing continues to kick marketing 🍑

As a mom and kick 🍑 marketer, I often stress aboutWhether my daughter is sad when I can’t be home thanks to work 👇Recently, I was having a rough week thanks to a combination of✈️ travel🤝 board meetingsI had missed a few of my daughter’s bedtimes (which I try to never miss). When this happens, I often drive my daughter to school to get extra time. 🤔 One morning, I asked her if mommy working a lot or traveling made her sad,🤔 And would she rather if I didn’t have a company and was home more often. She responded and said, “Oh NO mom. You can’t give it up. I love @KSA Marketing and love that you have your own company. What you do is important.” WOW. When I came home that night, she had made me this picture.Women everywhere struggle with whether they are spending enough time with their children. But we are also their role models. They want to be us when they grow up. And for me, that is the biggest gift I could have and also the biggest responsibility.

My daughter Madelyn was listening to me rehearse and practice my pitchfor the pitch competition and came up with something a little bit different. 👇We were driving to Maine for a long weekend and I thought she was on her headphones and iPad, 😆 But in fact she was rewriting my speech. Listen to the updated speech and let me know - which is better?
